Opening Comments
Grain Trading Update
Grain trading remains active, with brown flax drawing the most attention in recent weeks as demand continues to hold firm. Location remains a key factor in achieving top-end pricing and securing desired movement, which is generally prompt this time of year or within a two-month window to avoid carrying into farmers’ seeding season. Depending on the buyer, brown flax movement windows can range anywhere from January through August.
We have seen a steady flow of large green and small green lentils come to market, though trade has been limited. Buyers remain cautious and are focused almost exclusively on top-quality product, if purchasing at all. As we move through the next few trading sessions, location, quality, and timing continue to be the primary drivers behind any executable trade.
