RECAP:Crop Production Show: Day-1
Day 1 of the Western Canadian Crop Production Show was extremely eventful and we thank all those who’ve taken the time to stop by the booth to chat, it is always a pleasure seeing everyone! If you’ve ’ve been following the Johnstons Grain social channels, you may have seen a major announcement yesterday. Our partners at WEED-IT Canada were awarded the Innovation Award at the *43rd Annual Western Canadian Crop Production Show.
WEED-IT’s precision spraying technology uses optical sensors to detect living green plants and apply herbicide only where weeds are present, significantly reducing chemical use while maintaining effective control. The system helps producers lower input costs, improve efficiency, and support more sustainable farming practices without sacrificing performance.
Travis Albrecht of Johnstons Regenerative delivered the keynote address on behalf of WEED-IT Canada, having been one of the earliest adopters—if not the first—to implement the technology in Western Canada. We’re proud to partner with an innovative company that aligns closely with the future direction of agriculture.

A special shoutout as well to Nishiza Kurji and Chris Hubbard of WEED-IT for the tremendous behind-the-scenes work they’ve done and continue to do to support the success of this technology.
If you’re attending the show this year, be sure to stop by booths B-155 & B-156 in the O&T Farms Hall.Similarily if you’re interested in vistin and award winning spot spray technology please stop by booth A92 if you have a moment. The Johnstons Grain booth has plenty of giveaways on hand, along with an updated and robust crop protection portfolio featuring several new additions you won’t want to miss. And yes … I can confirm we do have black hats in stock. Swing by and grab yours while supplies last!

Financing Tip of the Week: Are You Operating Too Close to the Edge? Signs Your Business is in Financial Stress.
Many farmers ignore the early warning signs of financial trouble and only realize the severity of the issue when a major event occurs. The early signs of financial stress are the lack of a financial cushion and marketing produce in unfavourable market conditions. Did you know these early warning signs, and do you know what comes next? Find out how these situations get out of control here https://johnstons.glengarry.ca/post/farming-financial-problems-warning-signs.
