Fall Soil Sampling Program
We’re currently running our fall soil sampling program and our team are on the ground pulling samples in Alberta and Western Saskatchewan. After soil sampling, we send sample to the Croplands Analytics lab in Tofield, AB for a Full Spectrum Analysis. And, if you’re willing to fill out a 2025 fertility questionnaire our team will return you an Advanced Fertility Recommendation designed to lower your crop input costs and rehabilitate challenging soil conditions, all the while maintaining or increasing yield. Through the use of our novel crop input products like vermicastings biology from Annelida, activated Calcium from Croplands Solution, and Humic Substances from BlackEarth, we’re able to make a low-cost and high-impact remediations to your soil.

Many of you will remember Dr. Karthi Narayanan from our 2025 Soil Health Events. If you attended one of these events, you will remember the value that Full Spectrum Analysis and Advanced Fertility Recommendations offer to your farm. We deployed our Advanced Fertility Recommendations on over 1,000,000 acres of crop and hay this year and the results have been outstanding. We were able to reduce several farms crop input bills by $25-$50/acre without sacrificing any yield and while making a lasting investment in soil health. Many of these farms also experienced large yield increases

How to participate:

  1. Send soil samples to Cropland Analytics (Dr. Karthi’s Lab) – 9068 51st Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5X4.
  2. Submit your fertility program.
  3. Receive a custom review from Dr. Karthi and his team.

💲 $120/sample
🎁 Bonus: Submit both your sample and fertility form by Oct. 15 for a chance to win a FREE Rhyz Seed Enhancement Kit (valued at $1,250).

We’re here to complement your agronomist, not replace them, bringing added focus to soil biology and regenerative outcomes.

Let’s get your samples in and start improving your acres!

Fall Weed Control

Harvest is winding down in many parts of the Canadian prairies & with fall work beginning on many farms we’ve also had many inquiries regarding Sulfentrazone and Carfentrazone for late-fall burn off. We’re starting to see overnight temperatures that would warrant the use of Sulfentrazone 480 in burn-off. For maximum residual effects on Kochia; tank mix your fall application of Sulfentrazone with glyphosate. Sulfentrazone is now being widely used across prairies due to its effectiveness and affordability; this is a great opportunity to target Kochia on your farm. We’re currently prices at $8.10/acre at the standard usage rate of 40 acres/jug. Our carfentrazone price is even better at $2.25-$4.50/acre depending on whether you tackle your resistant weeds at the high or low rate of 80-160 acres/jug.

We also carry a product called Florasulam which is a great fall tank mix option ahead of cereal crops. To add this product to the tank mix only costs $1.65/acre and controls a lot of tough to kill weeds like Dandelions, Narrow leaved hawksbeard, wild buckwheat, lambs quarter, volunteer canola and more!

Other products like Dicamba and 2,4-D can also be useful tank mix partners and we carry those as well.

Financing Tip of the Week:  The Credit Score Conundrum
Farmers often unknowingly sabotage their credit scores, which costs them higher interest rates, and sometimes results in a loan being declined.  A credit score measures a borrower’s likelihood of missing a payment within the next six months. Find out why the bank considers this a critical factor in approving your loan here https://johnstons.glengarry.ca/post/farm-loan-credit-scores
