New Crop Marketing Activity Is Picking Up
We’ve seen a noticeable uptick in new crop marketing activity in recent weeks, as more producers begin to take advantage of current pricing opportunities and manage risk ahead of the upcoming season.

With shifting market conditions, ongoing global uncertainty, and input costs still top of mind, many growers are choosing to get proactivelocking in margins where they make sense and building a more structured marketing plan earlier than usual. This increase in activity is a strong signal that the market is presenting opportunities worth evaluating. Whether it’s pricing a portion of your expected production or exploring flexible contract options, having a strategy in place now can help position you for success later.

If you haven’t started thinking about your new crop yet, now is a great time to begin the conversation. Reach out to your trusted Johnston’s Grain broker to walk through current bids, market trends, and strategies tailored to your operation. 1.844.324.7778

Invitation to Special Launch of the SixRing™ TeraCoat™ & TeraSix™ Family of Seed & Crop Stimulants – Limited Supply for Customers of Johnston’s Grain

Johnston’s Grain is pleased to partner with SixRing™ to introduce their unique family of lignin-derived crop & seed stimulants, notably its SeedShield™ seed dressing, and their FieldEdge™ foliar. These are products that have extraordinary molecular performance that will optimize your overall crop health and fertilizer investments and / or minimize the effects of the current fertilizer market volatility via their unique signaling properties. Derived from non-food-based lignocellulosic biomass via the SixRing™ patented processes and methods, the TeraCoatTM   &TeraSix™ family of stimulants are uniquely rich in carboxylic acids and phenol groups, only observed in their products. Importantly, they are characterized by a very small molecular structure that allows for optimal seed and plant absorption of natural signals that encourage optimal germination and overall plant vitality. These are molecules that can achieve results typically only observed from synthetic hormones yet are 100% natural and EDTA free. The Johnston’s team is pleased to be one of Canada’s only early distributors of the TeraCoatTM &TeraSix™ family of products, with access to limited supplies for the 2026 growing season.

Join us for a special webinar to introduce the science behind the products, led by the SixRing™ Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Markus Weissenberger Ph.D, and Senior Lab Manager Alejandra Enriquez Ph.D (see bios below). Attached you will find more detailed information on the TeraCoatTM & TeraSix™ products, and we include a short video that introduces some of the unique science involved.

WEBINAR DATE & TIME:
Tuesday, March 31st

Logistics Update

Bulk capacity is looking good this week ahead of the spring rush period, shippers should be able to find capacity for most lanes, although South-North may be difficult.   While capacity should remain plentiful for the coming weeks, fuel has jumped significantly this week with rates likely to follow.

We have trucks in the below areas next week looking for reloads:

EquipmentLocationLooking to Get To
SuperB HopperVancouver, BCAB, SK
SuperB HopperAlbertaSK, MB
SuperB HopperSaskatchewanCoronach, SK
SuperB DeckSaskatoon, SK, Regina, SKAnywhere

Due to the conflict in the Middle East and the associated rise in fuel prices, expect rate increases across the board on all transportation both inland and ocean.  Depending on vessel access to the Strait of Hormuz, it is likely that we see additional tightness on container equipment in the near future as well with longer transit times.

If you have bulk, dry van, deck or container freight to move, please reach out to logistics@johnstonsgrain.com for a competitive quote!
