OPENING COMMENTS: Market Update: Pressure on Pulses & Specialty Crops – Act Now (If Needed…)
Pulses and specialty crops remain under significant market pressure. Buyers and traders are exercising caution, limiting purchases and closely timing movement as they look for export or domestic opportunities.
Green and yellow peas are taking the hardest hit this harvest, with lentils (both red and green) not far behind. Many buyers are either pulling bids entirely or offering prices so low that it’s almost a giveaway.
If you need prompt movement to free up bin space, now is the time to be proactive. Delivery slots are tightening and carrier capacity is becoming strained. Acting early can help secure space and avoid delays.
Weed It Demo Days 2.0

We will be posting some of the photos from today’s training session on tomorrow’s daily. If you are interested in a demo day please reach out as we are considering doing 1-2 more before the year is done, weather and harvest permitting.

From the Johnston’s Regenerative Team: 2025 Post-Harvest Soil Sampling
We’re looking to collect 2–3 targeted samples per field to establish a strong foundation of data—essential for making accurate, strategic recommendations that support long-term soil health, quality, structure, and biological activity.
This isn’t exhaustive grid sampling. Instead, we focus on the GAP method: sampling the Good, the Average, and the Poor zones of a field. This approach helps identify key areas of variability, allowing us to tailor our biological and regenerative solutions for maximum impact on both soil performance and crop response.
To be clear, this process isn’t meant to replace any agronomists or sampling services you already trust. Our goal is to work alongside your existing team—filling in the gaps with additional insights focused specifically on improving soil biology and regenerative outcomes.
If you’re interested in learning more or want to get started, we’d love to connect.

WEED-IT Information continued:
With recent advancements in WEED-IT technology and new research emerging from leading Canadian ag colleges, WEED-IT spot spray systems are proving to be a game-changing tool for Western Canadian farming operations.
Based on real-world use cases and the latest data, we’re seeing impressive return-on-investment timelines:
- 3,000-acre farm: 24–36 months
- 6,000-acre farm: 12–24 months
- 9,000-acre farm: 6–12 months
Our sales team is excited to walk you through the latest developments and how WEED-IT can benefit your farm. Give Travis Albrecht a call today at 1.403.502.6332 for more information or to book a demo.
Please note, there is a lead time for delivery and installation. WEED-IT systems require bracket installation on New Millennium booms, followed by full integration with your existing sprayer.
If you’re aiming to have a WEED-IT system up and running by Spring 2026, we strongly recommend booking your fall demo now. This ensures we can finalize your order in time and get your equipment ready to roll
