CALGARY SASKATOON WINNIPEGJohnston’s MicroActive (Ca): This is new activated granular calcium product that makes calcium >300% more available than the untreated competitors. This product also makes potassium as well as magnesium and other micronutrients more available in the soil. Plant uptake of P, Ca, Mg, Zn, Cu, Mn and Fe are also significantly higher than in untreated trials. Germination rates and pH rates increased in all trials. Average root weight tripled from 5.7g to 17.4g/plant in lab testing with 80lbs of this product.
This product will be most effective if Base Saturation of Calcium is below 50%. It also performs best when Ca/Mg ratios fall below 3:1. Growers should target 4:1 to 5:1 in Ca:Mg ratios.
For soils with 40-50% (Ca) base saturation – apply 40lbs/acre
For soils with 30-40% (Ca) base saturation – apply 60lbs/acre
For soils with <30% (Ca) base saturation – apply 80lbs/acre
This product retails at $1100/tonne FOB Camrose or $1200/t del’d to farm. The product is available in 1000kg mini-bulk bags. Used at 40-80lbs per acre depending on the level of calcium needed in your soil. At $0.50/LB we’re anywhere from $20-$40/acre on this soil amending product.

DAILY JOKE:
The topic of the day at Army Airborne School was what you should do if your parachute malfunctions. We had just gotten to the part about reserve parachutes when another student raised his hand.
“If the main parachute malfunctions,” he said, “how long do we have to deploy the reserve?”
Looking the trooper square in the face, the instructor replied, “The rest of your life.”
