Opening Comments

AnneMaxx AG-Doption
The AnneMaxx AG portfolio of products has been integral to the success of our Johnston’s Regenerative Soil Health Program. The broad biology offered from these vermicasting derived products has acted as a perfect buffer in our program and allowed us to painlessly cut producers back on their fertilizer usage.

We were able to cut producers fertility anywhere from 25% to 100% last year without seeing any yield drag, and generally seeing a significant yield increase. These products allow farmers to cut back significantly on fertility usage and to make an impactful and lasting investment in the health of their soil.

2-3 years ago, I would have called this product fairy-dust. But after sitting through dozens of soil health seminars lead by some of the brightest minds in the soil health space, particularly my friend Dr. Karthi Narayanan (Ph.D in Applied Microbiology from the U of S). I’ve come to understand the massive value unlocked for farmers with this broad biology. Seeing the results of using these products on farm this year was also a massive eye-opener for me.

The AnneMaxx Ag product line represents one of the best, and one of the most untold stories in Western Canadian agriculture in 2025-26.

Call us today to discuss these products and learn more about our AnneMaxx Ag fall booking program & how we’re able to cut fertility drastically through the use of vermicastings biology.  Incorporating these products will be one of the best decisions ever made on your farm!

Western Canadian Weather Update

CALGARY SASKATOON WINNIPEG

Logistics Update

Freight
Carrier capacity is tightening this week as we enter October, shippers are recommended to start booking freight at least one week in advance to ensure timely movement.  While the lack of spot capacity is partially due to several facilities being closed and carriers not running due to the Day for Truth and Reconciliation today, it is unlikely we fully return to the ‘summer’ shipping period that many shippers have grown accustomed to the last few months with high carrier availability and low rates –  expect carrier capacity to continue to reduce throughout October and rates to increase in-turn.

We have trucks in the below areas next week looking for reloads:

EquipmentLocationEnd Destination
SuperB HopperVancouver, BCAB, SK
SuperB HopperStrathmore, ABSK
SuperB HopperLethbridge, ABSK, MB
SuperB DeckSaskatoon, SK, Regina, SKAnywhere

Ocean
Trans-pacific ocean rates continue their downward trend despite renewed trade talks between China & the United States.  If you have anything to bring over from China or East Asian origins, the next few months is definitely a great time to do so as without a firm trade deal and a large increase in container traffic it is unlikely that rates increase in the latter part of the year.

If you have bulk, dry van, deck or container freight to move, please reach out to logistics@johnstonsgrain.com for a competitive quote!
