Likewise, we ask that all outstanding chemical and regenerative contracts be settled via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or Wire Payment. All required payment details will be included with your invoice. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.

Fall Soil Sampling Program

We’re currently running our fall soil sampling program and our team are on the ground pulling samples in Alberta and Western Saskatchewan. After soil sampling, we send sample to the Croplands Analytics lab in Tofield, AB for a Full Spectrum Analysis. And, if you’re willing to fill out a 2025 fertility questionnaire our team will return you an Advanced Fertility Recommendation designed to lower your crop input costs and rehabilitate challenging soil conditions, all the while maintaining or increasing yield. Through the use of our novel crop input products like vermicastings biology from Annelida, activated Calcium from Croplands Solution, and Humic Substances from BlackEarth, we’re able to make a low-cost and high-impact remediations to your soil.

Many of you will remember Dr. Karthi Narayanan from our 2025 Soil Health Events. If you attended one of these events, you will remember the value that Full Spectrum Analysis and Advanced Fertility Recommendations offer to your farm. We deployed our Advanced Fertility Recommendations on over 1,000,000 acres of crop and hay this year and the results have been outstanding. We were able to reduce several farms crop input bills by $25-$50/acre without sacrificing any yield and while making a lasting investment in soil health. Many of these farms also experienced large yield increases

How to participate:

  1. Send soil samples to Cropland Analytics (Dr. Karthi’s Lab) – 9068 51st Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5X4.
  2. Submit your fertility program.
  3. Receive a custom review from Dr. Karthi and his team.

💲 $120/sample
🎁 Bonus: Submit both your sample and fertility form by Nov. 15 for a chance to win a FREE Rhyz Seed Enhancement Kit (valued at $1,250).

We’re here to complement your agronomist, not replace them, bringing added focus to soil biology and regenerative outcomes.

Western Canadian Weather Update

CALGARY SASKATOON WINNIPEG

Freight

Shippers are starting to feel the first big freight crunch of the New Crop season as carrier availability is especially low this week .  Capacity issues are compounded by many shippers having carry-over loads from the short week caused by Thanksgiving.   While capacity should rebound somewhat next week, its unlikely we reach the widespread availability of September and early October.  Shippers should be booking loads out at least a week and should be very aware of the weather turning as we approach November.

We have trucks in the below areas next week looking for reloads:

EquipmentLocationLooking to Get To
SuperB HopperVancouver, BCAB, SK
SuperB HopperStrathmore, ABSK
SuperB HopperLethbridge, ABSK, MB
SuperB DeckSaskatoon, SK, Regina, SKAnywhere

Ocean

Tensions are high between China and the US with the trade war escalating between the two countries as both sides introduce additional tariffs, reciprocal tariffs and the threat of future tariffs.  While the threat of future tariffs could create another front-loading of Trans-Pacific Cargo as shippers try to get ahead of trade difficulties, thus far October volumes continue their downward trend we’ve seen the previous few months.

If you have bulk, dry van, deck or container freight to move, please reach out to logistics@johnstonsgrain.com for a competitive quote!
