Prairie Weekend Precipitation Update

Alberta received some of the most beneficial precipitation over the weekend, particularly across central and southern regions. The rainfall improved topsoil moisture, supported crop emergence, and provided a boost to pasture growth. While conditions have improved, parts of northwestern Alberta remain drier than desired and will require additional rainfall through June to maintain yield potential.

Saskatchewan saw highly variable rainfall, with the greatest benefits occurring across central and west-central areas. Recent moisture has improved germination and reduced crop stress in several regions, particularly for cereals and canola. However, southwestern and northeastern portions of the province continue to face moisture deficits, leaving crop prospects heavily dependent on timely June precipitation.

Manitoba received scattered rainfall over the weekend, with the most meaningful amounts falling in southwestern and south-central regions. The moisture helped support early crop development and improved soil conditions in localized areas. Despite these gains, parts of central and southeastern Manitoba remain short on moisture and will need additional rainfall to replenish subsoil reserves heading into the summer growing season
