Cypress Farm Show: Keynote Address
Join us at 11:00am Thursday June 11 with Michael Launer & Dr. Clemence Muitire of Johnstons Grain as we dive into how better soil health can directly improve farm profitability. Discover how full-spectrum soil insights are helping growers turn agronomic data into real ROI per acre. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain practical strategies that can make an impact on your operation this season.

Join us following our keynote presentation at Booth 204 for deeper conversations on the future of agriculture and the evolving role of soil health, data, and profitability on the farm. We look forward to connecting with growers and industry partners as we explore practical strategies that could help shape the next era of farming for your operation.
Financial Update:
“A bond market run in the UK is increasing Canadian government bond rates, leading to a potential increase in long-term interest rates.”
Current Prime: 4.45%
Estimated 5-year fixed rate available to prime borrowers (May 11): 4.8%
Next Bank of Canada rate decision: June 10, 2026 (unlikely to change).
Financing Tip of the Week: What the Banks Don’t Talk About
What your account manager doesn’t want to tell you could seriously affect your financial future. Banks have a tendency to promise more than they can deliver, which can be a big problem for farmers who are counting on financing that never comes through. Learn why this happens here https://johnstons.glengarry.ca/post/farm-loan-backup-plan.

WEED IT: Demo Days
UPDATED: The WEED-IT spot spraying demo unit has officially landed in Bow Island and is ready for another round of real-world prairie testing. Growers are getting the opportunity to see firsthand how WEED-IT can dramatically reduce chemical usage, target weeds with pinpoint precision, and maximize every spray pass across the field.
As the week progresses, the demo tour will move through Lethbridge County by Wednesday, then into the Picture Butte and Barons area on Thursday. By Friday, the unit is expected to arrive in Bassano before heading east into Saskatchewan with planned stops beginning in Shaunavon and potentially Swift Current.
If you’ve been curious about spot spraying technology, this is your chance to put WEED-IT through the ultimate test in your own farm conditions. Book a live field demonstration today and see the savings, efficiency, and weed control performance for yourself. Demo spots are filling quickly as the unit moves across the prairies, so contact your local Johnstons Grain representative now to schedule a stop, secure your demo, and learn how WEED-IT can help lower input costs while improving spray efficiency this season.
