Opening Comments
Across the Prairies, the focus continues to shift daily between grain marketing and crop protection depending on region, weather, and how far along seeding progress is. For many growers currently in the field, or preparing to start shortly, attention remains heavily centered on securing agronomic needs while also keeping a close eye on volatile grain markets. In the short term, prompt movement feed grains continue to attract strong buying interest, while specialty crops are beginning to gain momentum heading into the summer months as processors and end users start positioning for tighter supplies and new crop demand.
As planting ramps up, now is also an excellent time to evaluate your crop protection strategy for the season ahead. Over the past year, our crop protection portfolio has expanded significantly with the addition of several high-value post-patent chemistries including saflufenacil, pyroxsulam, and a growing lineup of competitive herbicide solutions designed to help improve performance while lowering overall input costs. Alongside crop protection products, we have also expanded our in-crop foliar nutrition offerings with the FolStack lineup for brassicas, cereals, and pulses, giving growers targeted nutritional support throughout the growing season.
Whether you are finalizing pre-seed burnoff plans, preparing for in-crop applications, or looking to maximize crop performance and return on investment, our team has the products, programs, and agronomic support to help your farm succeed this season. Reach out to your trusted Johnstons Grain representative today to discuss grain marketing opportunities, crop protection options, and tailored fertility solutions for your operation.

UPDATED: The WEED-IT spot spraying demo unit has officially landed in Bow Island and is ready for another round of real-world prairie testing. Growers are getting the opportunity to see firsthand how WEED-IT can dramatically reduce chemical usage, target weeds with pinpoint precision, and maximize every spray pass across the field.
