Grain Predictions Market
Kalshi, not to be confused with Kalshea Commodities familiar to some farmers in eastern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, has launched a new commodities hub that allows users to trade on whether prices for commodities such as wheat, soybeans, canola, corn, coffee, cocoa, sugar, and cattle will exceed certain price levels by specific dates.
Unlike traditional futures markets, prediction markets allow users to trade on event outcomes rather than directly buying or selling the underlying commodity. Kalshi operates as an exchange connecting buyers and sellers, similar to the CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange.
The platform currently offers 24/7 trading, though liquidity remains limited as the commodities hub is still new. Kalshi says it plans to expand its commodities offerings over time.
Canadians are currently unable to trade on the platform, but the company says it is working toward international expansion.
WEED IT: Demo Days
We’re kicking off demo season immediately in the Foremost to Milk River corridor, before moving north through Lethbridge, Picture Butte, and Vulcan. From there, we’ll head east to Medicine Hat, Acadia Valley, and Oyen, followed by stops from Leader to Swift Current and down to Shaunavon. After that, availability opens up across all regions.
We’re now booking both demos and rentals and would like to feature a signup in the daily to build a full spring schedule! Curious what WEED IT can deliver on your farm before locking in a demo? WEED IT Canada has built an ROI calculator so you can quickly estimate your potential savings and payback. ROI calculator | WEED-IT Canada
Program Details:
- Demo: One full tank per operation
- Rental: Minimum 640 acres
- Rate: $8/acre
- Customer responsible for fuel and DEF
- Ask about ‘WEED-IT’ Government Grants
Secure your spot early as we expect availability to fill quickly. Please reach out to Travis Albrecht for your personal Weed IT Demo Day!
