Impending Gopher Season
As we approach spring, timing is critical when it comes to managing gophers. These pests emerge from hibernation early in the season and begin breeding shortly after, meaning early, proactive control can significantly reduce in-crop pressure later on.
If spending long days shooting isn’t practical or efficient, there’s another effective option. Our rolled zinc phosphide bait is a proven solution and remains one of the most reliable control tools available since the loss of strychnine. We have ample supply available for pickup or can coordinate delivery with your next chemical order.
If you have field access, now is the time to scout and act—before breeding begins and populations expand. We are currently offering 22 kg bags at $179 per bag. For more information or to place an order, please reach out to your trusted broker at Johnstons Grain: 1.844.324.7778
2025 BlackEarth Harvest Trial Data
Black Earth develops and manufactures humic solutions from its exclusive Humalite reserve, maintaining full control from mine to market. Its trial program is designed to bring discipline and credibility to a category where performance is often questioned, operating within core, high-accountability agricultural systems alongside experienced growers, agronomists, and independent research partners. Focused on the acres it knows best, each trial evaluates performance under real farming conditions rather than ideal scenarios. All results are generated using credible methodologies and independent data sources, with measurable, calculable outcomes centered on yield response and practical return on investment that farmers recognize and value. For more information on the 2025 trial data, or to request the full trial data booklet, please contact garrett.forster@johnstonsgrain.com.

AGRVISIONS 2026: Lloydminster
We’re excited to be back on the road next week as we pack up the tradeshow gear and head to Lloydminster for this year’s AGRIVISIONS Trade Show. It’s been a while since we’ve connected with many of our Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan growers who weren’t able to attend the Saskatoon Crop Production Show, and we’re looking forward to catching up over the two-day event. You can find us in the Alberta Building at booths #307 & #308. As always, feel free to bring along soil samples for analysis—this is a great opportunity to drop them off. The countdown is on, and we’ll see you very soon.
Grain Marketing & Movement
Grain marketing windows are tightening, with the majority of our programs now committed for March and beyond. Limited opportunities for prompt movement remain, but availability is highly dependent on commodity and location. Similarly, please notify your broker if you expect to be impacted by road bans. Advance notice allows us to coordinate deliveries properly, mitigate higher freight costs tied to secondary weights, and reduce the risk of added charges or delays once restrictions are in place.
NEW PRICING OPPORTUNITY IN TSP (TRIPLE SUPERPHOSPHATE)
Most suppliers of fertilizer in Western Canada have been increasing prices on Nitrogen and Phosphate and other forms of synthetic fertility. Here at Johnston’s, we’re pleased to announce a price improvement on our TSP fertilizer.
NEW PRICE: $1150/t del’d to farm in AB, SK and MB.
TSP is a premium granular phosphate fertilizer containing 46% P205, and 15% Calcium (a critical nutrient that most soils are deficient in). Other key features include:
10-12 on the fertilizer salt index vs. MAP which is 30-32
Soil structure building
Water holding capacity building
Easier on biology than competing products
And… much more. Reply to this email with “TSP vs. MAP Information Package” to receive a comprehensive side-by-side comparison outlining the key differences between TSP and MAP.
New-Crop Pricing
All prices are FOB Farm and will have an Act of God provision (AOG), reach out to your trusted broker at Johnstons Grain for more information & stay tuned for more offers!
