EARLY BOOKING DISCOUNT OPPORTUNITIES EXPIRING
BOS Inoculant from NutriAg
Our BOS Inoculant Early Booking program will expire at the end of January. If you’re interested in booking our BOS inoculant at the Early Booking price, get your orders in by Friday, January 30th.

BOS Inoculant is one on the premium dual-strain inoculants available on the market in Western Canada with key features including:

  • Granular, Peat and Liquid options

  • Best second strain (Pseudomonas)
  • DUAL STRAIN INOCULANT AT THE SINGLE STRAIN PRICE!

Also, please note that AT LEAST ONE MAJOR INOCULANT MANUFACTURER WILL NOT BE BRINGING ANY PRODUCT TO MARKET IN WESTERN CANADA THIS YEAR. This is likely to result in a tight supply for producers that do not get pre-orders in place.

    • Creates fertilizer efficiency and allows for 25-50% reduction in synthetic fertility usage

NEW PRICING OPPORTUNITY IN TSP (TRIPLE SUPERPHOSPHATE)
Most suppliers of fertilizer in Western Canada have been increasing prices on Nitrogen and Phosphate and other forms of synthetic fertility. Here at Johnston’s, we’re pleased to announce a price improvement on our TSP fertilizer.

NEW PRICE: $1150/t del’d to farm in AB, SK  and MB.
TSP is a premium granular phosphate fertilizer containing 46% P205, and 15% Calcium (a critical nutrient that most soils are deficient in). Other key features include:

10-12 on the fertilizer salt index vs. MAP which is 30-32
Soil structure building
Water holding capacity building
Easier on biology than competing products

And… much more. Reply to this email with “TSP vs. MAP Information Package” to receive a comprehensive side-by-side comparison outlining the key differences between TSP and MAP.

Canada | China Yellow Peas: Customs Timing Still Unconfirmed
A buyer we work with shared an update on Canadian origin yellow peas and trade “agreement” with China. Canadian Embassy officials in Beijing indicated that, under normal circumstances, March 1 is expected as the Chinese Customs clearance date, regardless of shipment timing from Canada. While this is not an official government endorsement to ship early, it suggests that export windows may remain tight until clearance is confirmed. For Canadian farmers, this could mean limited movement and potential pressure on prices as buyers await official confirmation. Negotiations with Chinese authorities are still ongoing following Prime Minister Carney’s recent visit. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and will report of any new developments as they come available.

Looking Ahead to the 2026 Winter Olympics 2.0
I neglected to mention curling yesterday as part of Canada’s pursuit of Olympic gold in 2026. Growing up, I had the opportunity to watch some of the most accomplished Canadian curlers ever take the ice, names like Kevin Martin, Brad Gushue, Glenn and Russ Howard, along with Colleen Jones and Jennifer Jones. That golden era set a high standard, with the last time both Canada’s men’s and women’s teams standing atop the podium coming at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The hope is that tradition continues in 2026, as Brad Jacobs and Rachel Homan look to lead Canada’s rock slingers back to the promised land and reclaim Olympic gold. HURRY. HURRY HARD!
