Financial Data provided by Glengarry Farm Finance
Back-to-back positive jobs reports have the market convinced the Bank of Canada will hold in December.
Current Prime: 4.45%,
Estimated 5-year fixed rate available to prime borrowers (Nov 10): 4.5%
Next Bank of Canada rate decision: December 10, 2025 (unlikely to change).
Financing Tip of the Week: Pitfalls of Equipment Financing
Equipment loans and leases are a leading cause of financial strain for farmers. The issue is that large, fixed payments often don’t match the unpredictable, seasonal cash flow of farming operations. After four years of helping clients manage these challenges, you can read about Glengarry’s proven strategies here https://johnstons.glengarry.ca/post/equipment-loans-farmers.
Triple-Super Phosphate
Johnston’s Grain is pleased to announce that we’re finding a lot of success in contracting and delivering high quality fertilizer products to our farm clients across Western Canada. Our first few pick-ups and deliveries are under our belt and have gone seamlessly. Feedback from our clients has been extremely positive.
We’re not focusing on commodity fertilizers like Urea, UAN, MAP, etc. We’re focusing on high quality, low-salt fertility options that are more aligned with the soil health outcomes that we’re trying to achieve through our Johnston’s Regenerative Advanced Fertility Program. These products include:
- TSP (Triple Superphosphate)
- Potassium Sulfate
- Activated Calcium
- Humic Acid
To date, we’ve able to compete with the competing products being offered through the normal fertilizer chain and deliver these higher quality fertilizers to the farm at $50-$100/t under the prices paid for the bulk products. If you’re interested in receiving a quote on these fertilizer products, please give us a call.
If you’re interested in participating in our Advanced Fertility Program which lowers costs, improves soil health, and delivers Ph.D. Level fertility solutions, please respond by asking for the most reason version of our Johnston’s Regenerative Monthly email or give us a call to ask about soil sampling, full-spectrum soil analysis, Ph.D. guided fertility recommendations and sourcing for the products that are recommended through our Advanced Fertility program.
Call: 844.324.7778 and ask for Joel Merkosky

REMINDER!
Inoculant Pricing for 2026 is now available. Let’s figure out how to save you $10-$15/acre on your fertility program for this part of your rotation in 2026.
We are stocked with the best inoculant on the market. Granular, Liquid and Peat.
We sell the best seed treatment on the market, bar-none.
Farmers can pair those with the best phosphate (and biology) source for your pulse crops going into 2026. Bundled together we should save you $10-$15/acre on the cost structure of your pulse rotation while helping to make a long-term impact on soil health.
