Pulse & Special Crop Convention 2026

A few members of the Johnstons Connected team are heading east to Halifax for the 2026 Pulse & Special Crops Convention, September 15–17!

PSCC is North America’s largest pulse and special crops industry event, bringing together hundreds of buyers, sellers, processors, exporters and service providers from across Canada and around the world. This year’s program will feature market outlooks, industry panels and discussions covering peas, lentils, beans, chickpeas and special crops, along with transportation, market access and global trade.

For our team, the convention is all about relationships and staying connected to the marketplace. We’re looking forward to catching up with our industry partners, strengthening existing relationships, building new ones and having conversations about the opportunities and challenges facing Canadian producers and the grain trade.

If you’re attending PSCC 2026 in Halifax, keep an eye out for the Johnstons Connected team — we look forward to connecting with you!

PRAIRIE HARVEST PROGRESS REPORT

The 2026 harvest is moving, but still running behind normal across all three provinces. Saskatchewan remains furthest advanced, particularly on lentils and peas, while Alberta has made a strong jump in the south. Manitoba is progressing into spring cereals but continues to battle wet-field conditions in several regions. The biggest story over the next week will be weather. A sustained stretch of warm, dry conditions could produce a significant jump in Prairie harvest numbers as large acreages of wheat, barley and canola approach maturity.

Treads: Keeping You Rolling Through Harvest

There’s an old saying in the tire business: it’s not if you’ll need tires, it’s when. Well, when is now.

Treads has you covered with a strong selection of commercial truck tires ready to keep you moving. From 11R22.5 and 11R24.5 drives and steers to trailer tires, plus a variety of harder-to-find and uncommon sizes, we can help you find the right tire for the job.

We’re expecting a full shipment of tires to arrive in October, and with Treads inventory rolling out the door fast, now is a great time to get ahead of your fall tire needs.

Pre-orders are available now — secure the sizes you need before the shipment arrives and inventory gets spoken for. Whether you’re gearing up for harvest, fall hauling, or the miles ahead, don’t wait until you need tires to start looking for them.

Protect Your Crop & Your Market Access

Every spray application matters. To help ensure your grain meets Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) requirements in domestic and export markets, always read and follow the product label, including application rates, crop staging, pre-harvest intervals, tank-mix directions and all other label requirements. Good stewardship, accurate record keeping and proper application timing are essential for maintaining market access and protecting the reputation of Canadian grain. Before every application, visit Keep it Clean at www.keepitclean.ca for the latest best management practices and stewardship resources.
