Logistics Update

Spring Rush should be starting to wind down in the next week, shippers should see currently congested lanes start to open up in the coming weeks.  Tight capacity combined with yo-yo’ing fuel prices is expected to keep rates high for the first part of June until capacity increases.  Shippers are recommended to book out loads as far in advance as possible to allow carriers the ability to put together solid backhaul options.

We are currently looking for carriers to move Eastern MB to SK loads, as well as local loads in the Yorkton area.  If you are interested please reach out!

We have trucks in the below areas next week, please reach out if you have anything moving!

EquipmentLocationLooking to Get To
SuperB HopperVancouver, BCAB, SK
SuperB HopperABSK, MB
SuperB DeckSaskatoon, SK, Regina, SKAnywhere

Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the associated rise in fuel prices, expect rate increases across the board on all transportation both inland and ocean.  Depending on vessel access to the Strait of Hormuz, it is likely that we see additional tightness on container equipment in the near future as well with longer transit times.

If you have bulk, dry van, deck or container freight to move, please reach out to logistics@johnstonsgrain.com for a competitive quote!

Daily Joke

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cell phone on a bench rings. A man answers it, puts it on speaker, and begins talking while everyone else in the room is able to listen in.
The man says, “Hello.” A woman replies, “Hi Honey, it’s me. Are you at the club with the guys?”
The man says, “I sure am. What’s up?”
The woman replies, “Well, I’m at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It’s only $1,500. Would it be okay if I buy it?”
The man says, “Sure, if you really like it, go ahead. I’m sure it’ll look great.”
The woman says, “I also passed by and stopped at the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2027 models. There’s a little red convertible and it’s stunning. Would it be okay …?”
The smiling man replies, “How much?”
The woman replies, “The sticker price says, $165,000.” The man pauses and says, “Okay, but for that price I want to make sure it has all the options!” The woman, still not done, replies, “Great! Oh, and one more thing. That house we wanted last year has come back on the market. They’re only asking $1,950,000.”
The man pauses reflectively before saying, “Well, go ahead and give them an offer. Let’s make it $1,875,000.”
The excited woman says, “Will do. I can’t wait to see you later. I’ve got such a fun evening planned for us. I love you, Honey!” Very casually,
the man says, “Bye. I love you too.”
As he hangs up and returns the phone to the bench, the other men in the locker room stare at him in sheer astonishment.
He smiles and asks, “By the way, does anyone know whose phone this is?”
