USDA July WASDE Released: Key Takeaways

Wheat
The biggest takeaway is a tightening global wheat balance sheet.

U.S. wheat production was reduced to 1.536 billion bushels, the smallest crop since 1970/71.
U.S. ending stocks were lowered to 722 million bushels, down 22% from last year.
Globally, ending stocks were reduced to 272.8 million tonnes, with lower inventories in the United States, Canada, India and Argentina.
Canadian wheat production was also revised lower following Statistics Canada’s acreage report.
While Russia and Ukraine received modest production increases due to favourable growing conditions, those gains were more than offset by reduced stocks elsewhere.

Market impact: Overall, the report is constructive for wheat prices as global supplies continue to tighten, although ample Black Sea export competition remains an important factor to monitor.

Corn
The corn report leaned slightly supportive.

U.S. ending stocks declined to 1.8 billion bushels, reflecting stronger export demand.
USDA increased U.S. corn export forecasts as global demand remains resilient.
Global corn ending stocks fell by 6 million tonnes to 275.3 million tonnes.
Weather concerns in parts of Europe reduced production prospects, particularly in France.

Market impact: While global inventories remain comfortable historically, improving export demand and lower ending stocks provide modest underlying support.

Soybeans & Canola
Soybeans remain well supplied despite stronger demand.

U.S. soybean production increased on higher planted acreage.
USDA also raised U.S. soybean export forecasts.
Despite larger production, ending stocks remained unchanged as increased demand absorbed the additional supply.
Global soybean ending stocks declined slightly.
Global rapeseed (canola) production increased modestly, with higher production forecast in Russia, the United States and Canada.

Market impact: The soybean outlook remains largely neutral, while canola markets continue to be influenced more by weather, domestic crop conditions and demand than by this month’s WASDE revisions.

Bringing Your Crop Back After Hail

A tiered game plan from low-cost bio-stimulants to fungicides to help hail-hit acres recover across Western Canada. It has been a rough stretch of weather. Hail events have swept across Western Canada in recent weeks, and thousands of acres from Alberta through Manitoba are showing the bruises stripped leaves, snapped stems, and stands that suddenly look a lot thinner than they did the week before.

The good news: for most spring-sown crops at this point in the season, the plants have the biology to bounce back if they get a little help and if they haven’t advanced too far into the reproductive stage. Recovery is largely about re-establishing green leaf area, restarting growth, and protecting the plant from secondary stress while it heals.

Hormonal products such as cytokinins and lignin-based biostimulants are well known for helping crops re-establish themselves after a hail event. Because they’re deployed at very low dosages, they are exceptionally cost-effective — and they tank-mix well with just about anything else headed across the field, from foliar fertility to pesticides.

These products perform under any kind of abiotic stress, but they really stand out after hail — provided the crop isn’t too far into the reproductive stage. At this time of year, most spring-sown crops in Western Canada should be well positioned to recover from recent hail damage.

A few notes on the lineup

Macro blends — Crop-specific NPK formulations applied at 1 L/ac, from the 3–4 leaf stage to early bloom. Available in 1,000 L totes, with bulk discounts on 5,000 L+ and truckload pricing on 19,000 L / 29,000 L orders.
